Dr. Henry Young is an emergency medicine physician and Assistant Program Director at UF Health in Gainesville, Florida. After receiving his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Young attended Emergency Medicine residency at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida where he served as chief resident in his final year. After residency, he transitioned into a faculty postion as Assistant Professor at UF Health. He was also Assistant Medical Director of the UF Health Adult ED for two years. During that time, Dr. Young developed a passsion for research and transitioned from Assistant Medical Director to pursue his research interest in opioid addiction, opioid prescribing and pain management. He completed the National Institute of Health's NIDA T32 Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Florida's Substance Abuse Training Center in Public Health. After completing his research fellowship, Dr. Young was awarded the KL2 Award from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences and continues to perform opioid related research. Along with research, Dr. Young has a passion for education and mentoring residents.
