Sophie Terp, MD, MPH, is an associate professor of clinical emergency medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and a clinical scholar at the USC Schaeffer Center.
After earning an undergraduate degree in human biology from Stanford University, Terp received her MD and MPH from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed residency training in emergency medicine at Ronald Reagan UCLA and Olive View-UCLA medical centers and a research fellowship at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center. Terp’s research focuses primarily on access to emergency care for vulnerable populations and specifically on enforcement of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).
