Dr. Phyllis Hendry is a tenured Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville. She is board certified in pediatric emergency medicine and board eligible in EMS. Dr. Hendry has worked with the Florida and national EMSC programs for over 20 years and is the Florida EMSC medical director. In 2017, she launched the Florida PEDReady program for EDs and EMS agencies. She is Associate Chair of Emergency Medicine Research for the UF COM-Jacksonville Department of Emergency Medicine and manages over $7 million in departmental grants for federal, private and industry awards. Additionally, she serves as Trauma One Flight Services Deputy Pediatric Medical Directort. Currently Dr. Hendry’s research initiatives include serving as PI for the Pain Assessment and Management Initiative (PAMI) and site PI for the NIMH funded “Longitudinal Assessment of Post-Traumatic Syndromes” study also known as “AURORA”. The study is a national initiative to improve the understanding, prevention and recovery of soldiers and civilians who have experienced a traumatic event. Dr. Hendry’s research interests include research administration, pediatric EMS, EMS data systems, pediatric aeromedical epidemiology, pediatric trauma, pain management and nonpharmacologic management of pain, and post-traumatic stress syndromes.
