Lead Author: Francis O’Connell is an Assistant Professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and serves as the Emergency Department Medical Director at United Medical Center in Southeast Washington, DC. Dr. O’Connell trained at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency in Boston, MA. His research interests include operational medicine and evidence-based practice. A native of Queens, NY and graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy, Dr. O’Connell served on active duty for seven years as a commissioned officer in the Coast Guard prior to attending medical school at SUNY Buffalo. He resides in Arlington, VA with his wife and three girls.
Presenter: Monika Misak is a 4th year Emergency Medicine Resident and future Health Equity/Social Emergency Medicine Fellow at The George Washington University Hospital. Her current research interest is health equity. A graduate of Sophie Davis and Albany Medical College, 7-year combined program, Dr. Misak is originally from Cairo, Egypt and hails from Staten Island, NY.
