Dave received his BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida in 1997 and 1998, respectively. He completed medical school at Vanderbilt University in 2002, completed an Emergency Medicine residency at the Denver Health Medical Center in 2006 and a Masters in Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 2017. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics. Dave joined Carolinas Medical Center as clinical faculty in 2006 and is currently the Chief of Quality, Patient Safety, and Innovation and regional leader for Greater Charlotte at Atrium Health. His passions are graduate medical education, quality and patient safety, healthcare innovation, cardiac emergencies, resuscitation, clinical informatics, and healthcare for the homeless. He serves as core faculty for the residency and pediatric EM fellowship programs. He currently is the medical director for the system-wide J. Lee Garvey Chest Pain Network and leads cardiac arrest resuscitation efforts.
