Eva Delgado, MD is a pediatric emergency medicine physician and Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) whose area of academic focus is the education of students and residents. As Director of Emergency Medicine (EM) Resident Education for her division, she oversees the curriculum of nine EM residency programs. She has successfully partnered with colleagues from several area hospitals to bring Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) lectures and procedures to their sites. She directs the semi-annual Joint Conference in PEM and EM between CHOP and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and also serves as co-director of the procedure fair at her division’s national annual CME conference. Dr. Delgado is the principal investigator of a study designed to assess the perceived preparedness of general EM residency graduates to care for a range of pediatric ages and conditions, and she is the co-director and founder of PEM Day for EM Seniors, a conference borne from the results of this research. As a medical educator, Dr. Delgado has developed innovations for teaching ranging from novel three-dimensional models to a unique pocket card for residents. She serves as the dedicated clinical mentor for a PEM fellow, a pediatric resident, and a first year medical student, and she engages in frequent bedside teaching with all levels of trainees from a variety of specialties. Apart from her teaching roles, Dr. Delgado is involved in improving clinical care via participation in committees focused on patients with asthma, bronchiolitis, and those in need of sedation. She has authored book chapters on a variety of clinical topics, has mentored EM trainees in submissions of case reports to journals and conferences, and continues to participate in peer review for three journals.
