Julia Coleman is a Chief General Surgery Resident at University of Colorado-Denver. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biology at Elon University in North Carolina, her Master's in Public Health at the Ohio State University, and her Medical Degree from University of Toledo. She is finishing her seventh year of surgical training in Denver and will be a surgical critical care fellow at The Ohio State University starting in August. During her seven years in Denver, she has been active in basic science research around trauma-induced coagulopathy, with a particular interest in sex dimorphisms in coagulation. She was a NIH T32 Trauma Research Fellow with the University of Colorado Trauma Research Lab for two years, during which time she won the National Resident Paper Competition two years in a row. She continues basic science research, is currently funded through several NIH grants, and has published over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts during her residency.
