Kevin Richards has been with the Virginia State Police Since 1997. He was promoted to Special Agent in 2004 and is now a Senior Special Agent. He is assigned to the Counter Terrorism Unit where he is responsible for handling WMD / CBRNe / and HazMat emergencies. He is responsible for processing WMD and Hazardous Materials crime scenes such as biological, chemical and radioactive scenes. He is responsible for keeping the Counter Terrorism Response Unit trained, and ensuring that the equipment is ready to process these complicated crime scenes. He is a HazMat Specialist in Virginia and has had several years of specialized training in handling Hazardous Materials, chemicals, toxins, biological, radiological and WMD agents. The Department of State Police has recently created a Human Trafficking Unit and SSA Richards is one of the first Special Agents assigned to this new unit.
Kevin Richards is also the owner and CEO of Relevant Advanced Team Training. This is a Veteran owned small business that trains responders for a variety of difficult missions.
Senior Special Agent Richards received his B.S. degree in Government from Liberty University. SSA Richards served in the U.S. Army with 5th/87th in Panama from 1989 to 1991 during the "Just Cause" years, he then spent two years with the decorated 101st Airborne. Kevin lives in Virginia with His wife and two children.
