Charles J. Wright managed Union Pacific Railroad's hazardous materials training programs for over 30 years before retiring in 2009. He developed and implemented regulatory and response training program for UP employees and response programs for local emergency response personnel along the railroad. Charlie has been a principal member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Hazardous Materials Response Personnel since 1986 and received the NFPA Special Achievement Award in 2017 for his significant contributions to the development of the committee's standards. He continues to provide training programs for members of the response community.
