Mr. Hildebrand is the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Emergency Management Solutions, Inc. He is President of the Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation (YLD), and a member of the Board of Trustees with the National Fire Heritage Center.
Mr. Hildebrand has provided consulting services in the fields of hazardous materials emergency planning and response in the United States, Europe, Australia, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia. During his career, Mr. Hildebrand served as the President of Hildebrand and Noll Associates, Inc., (30 years), as the Director of Safety and Fire Protection for the American Petroleum Institute (10 years), as a Research Assistant with the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and as a Hazardous Materials Technician with the National Transportation Safety Board in Washington, D.C. He served as an active duty U.S. Air Force firefighter and was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years with 10 years of service as a member of the Prince George’s County (Maryland) Hazardous Materials Response Team.
Mr. Hildebrand is the co-author of six textbooks currently in print including Hazardous Materials: Managing the Incident – 5th edition, now in its 34th year of continuous publication, Pipeline Emergencies – 3rd edition, Propane Emergencies – 3rd edition, Gasoline Tank Truck Emergencies – 4th edition, Intermodal Container Emergencies – 2nd edition, and Above Ground Bulk Storage Tank Emergencies, 2nd edition.
Mr. Hildebrand served 22 years as a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Technical Committee on the Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents (NFPA 472) and 8 years as a member of the NFPA Flammable and Combustible Liquids Committee (NFPA-30). He is a former member of the NFPA Standards Council.
Mr. Hildebrand is a Certified Safety Professional with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, a Certified Fire Protection Specialist with the Fire Protection Specialist Certification Board, and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager with the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management.
He holds a B.S., in Fire Safety Analysis and Investigation, from the University of Maryland at College Park, and has completed course work from the Johns Hopkins University in Public Health and Humanitarian Crisis. He is the recipient of the prestigious International Association of Fire Chiefs – Chief John M. Eversole Lifetime Achievement Award for “Providing leadership and contributions to further and enhance the hazardous materials emergency response profession.”
