Dr Zarkowski completed a residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Case Western Reserve University. He is the author of journal articles on the use of EEG in psychiatric applications. Areas of focus in neurophysiology include using laser evoked potentials to investigate pain processing in patients with chronic pain. He is a Senior Psychiatric Supervisor at Sound Mental Health and is also on the clinical faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Washington. Dr. Zarkowski presents regularly in the didactic series for psychiatric residents and medical students on topics including Geriatric Psychiatric Emergencies and Anxiety Disorders. He has published book chapters and journal articles on various topics in emergency psychiatry including suicide risk assessment and addressing the clinical needs of special populations. Ongoing research interests include strategies for improving psychiatric medication regimens for optimum outcomes.
