After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree at Wabash College (Crawfordsville, Indiana) in 1978, Dr Casiano received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine (Indianapolis, Indiana) in 1982. He then completed his Otolaryngology residency at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine in 1988, after which he joined the faculty at the University Of Miami Department Of Otolaryngology. During his years of service in the department, he has earned the highest rank of tenured Professor and Vice Chairman, where he has mentored over 100 otolaryngology residents and 26 rhinology and endoscopic skull base fellows to date, all of which are currently serving in some capacity as a rhinologist and faculty member at various academic medical centers throughout the country.
Dr Casiano is an internationally recognized expert in the field of rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery. From 2014-2015 he had the honor to serve as President of the American Rhinologic Society, one of the most prestigious medical societies in the world. He has served as Secretary General, as well as past President, of the Panamerican Association of Otolaryngology. He continues to direct one of the most world-renowned training programs in the country, and is frequently invited as a guest speaker to numerous national and international meetings. His clinical and research interests have resulted in over 200 peer reviewed research publications, book chapters, or textbooks in the area of rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery.
