Brian D. Thorp, MD completed his undergraduate studies at James Madison University with Honors Scholar Distinction, followed by medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School where he was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then went on to complete residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Following residency he completed fellowship training at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill in Advanced Rhinology, Endoscopic/Open Skull Base Surgery and Oncology. His fellowship training emphasized endoscopic and open management of complex sinonasal and skull base pathologies including benign and malignant neoplasia, encephalocele, and cerebrospinal fluid leakage while providing advanced training in functional endoscopic sinus surgery.
Brian D. Thorp, MD is currently an Associate Professor in the UNC Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and Department of Neurosurgery.
