Rebecca Howell, MD is a fellowship trained laryngologist and Associate Professor in the Department of
Otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She is the Division Chief of
Laryngology and Director of the Robin Cotton & Rocco Dal Vera Professional Voice, Swallowing, and
Airway Program and Supervisor for the outpatient clinical speech language pathologists. Her clinical
practice involves the diagnosis and treatment of laryngological disease including in-office procedures,
benign swallowing, professional voice, aging voice, and multidisciplinary laryngological care. She is the
Primary Investigator for the first prospectively collected multi-institutional database for long-term
dysphagia outcomes in hypopharyngeal diverticulum known as the POUCHS collaborative and in 2019
received the Triological Society Early Career grant looking at Early Dysphagia Outcomes in Zenker
Diverticulum. She is a collaborator on multiple cross campus initiatives with the College of Allied Health,
Communication Disorders including 2021 Pilot Grant on Swallowing and Ultrasound in Parkinson Disease, 2020 Grant on COVID-19 Critical Community Challenge, and 2021 New Investigators Research Grant on sensorimotor reflexes in hyperfunctional voice disorders.
