Professor of Cognitive Neurology
Newcastle University Medical School, United Kingdom
Tim Griffiths is Professor of Cognitive Neurology at Newcastle University. His work addresses how the brain constructs a picture of the acoustic world and how this goes wrong in developmental, acquired and degenerative disorders. The work is relevant to the link between hearing loss and dementia. The work includes behavioural studies of normal subjects and neurological populations (at Newcastle University), functional imaging (at UCL) and human neurophysiology (at the Department of Neurosurgery, Iowa University). Work on normal subjects is supported by MRC and NIH programme grants. Work on auditory cognition in cochlear implant users is supported by an NIH programme grant.
