Dr. Viktoria Schiel is an MD PhD and currently a postdoc at the Department of Otolaryngology at Stanford University. She studied medicine and received her PhD at the Charité in Berlin. After that she completed her residency training in Otolaryngology in Munich. During that time, she developed a keen interest in working with patients with hearing loss and specialized in otology. As part of the cochlea implant team, she set up a cochlea implant center in her former clinic. After being board certified in Germany, she joined the lab of Dr. Peter Santa Maria at Stanford University in August 2021. Her current research focuses on understanding the role of macrophages towards sensory hearing loss in chronic suppurative otitis media.
