Momodou G. Bah is a medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He achieved his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at Michigan State University. Before starting his medical school career, Momodou worked as a research assistant at Wayne State University Neurology department. Born and raised in The Gambia, Momodou worked in the Gambian Ministry of Health, where he saw the need to develop Gambia’s healthcare system. He was inspired to pursue a career in neurosurgery when he learned that The Gambia has only one neurosurgeon serving a population of approximately 3 million people. Therefore, since he arrived in the U.S as an international student, he has been working hard to succeed in his endeavors to become a neurosurgeon. Momodou is also interested in research that focuses on social determinants of health and racial health disparities, most especially as they relate to the field of neurosurgery. When he is not in school, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer with friends.
