Maegan E. Ortiz is Executive Director of the Instituto de Educación Popular del Sur de California (IDEPSCA), the largest worker center in California, serving Day Laborers and Domestic workers at the intersection of immigrant rights. She has almost 30 years of social justice and coalition building experience around racial justice policy and practice in both New York and Los Angeles, including years as an independent journalist. Currently she is fighting to ensure that domestic workers and day laborers in California have the same occupational health and safety protections as other workers, especially in the face of climate accelerated disasters.
