Mayor James T. Butts, Jr. has served the people of Inglewood for 11 years and counting. Elected in 2010 and overwhelmingly re-elected, James Butts is serving his third term as Inglewood’s 12th mayor. With 50 years of public safety and municipal government experience, he has held senior leadership ranks at the Inglewood Police Department, the City of Santa Monica, and Los Angeles World Airports. Since taking office, Mayor Butts has expertly negotiated numerous acclaimed developments, including Madison Square Garden’s 2011-2016 renovation of the Forum, the LA Clippers’ new NBA arena initiated in 2017, and the return of the NFL Rams and Chargers to Southern California with the opening of SoFi Stadium in 2020 – the much-anticipated host venue for the 2028 Olympic Games opening ceremonies. For 7 consecutive years Mayor Butts has been named one of the 500 most influential leaders in LA County by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
