The hours spent clearing brambles for trails in the woods behind her home in the Brandywine River Valley might have been the first hint that Kate was destined to become a landscape architect. After studying landscape architecture at Michigan State University, Kate practiced large-scale resort design with EDSA in the Southeastern United States, Caribbean and lived 4 years in the South of France. Her love for crafting details together with contextual site design were the basis for co-founding Arterra in 2003. Today Arterra is recognized for its award winning custom residential landscapes throughout northern California.
