Born to Peruvian parents and raised in the Central Valley of California, his worldview has been shaped by his Latin American identity and rural upbringing. He received his MLA from UC Berkeley in 2017 and prior to that, worked in habitat restoration in Indiana and San Diego. He earned his BS in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara in 2010. He is a founding member and organizer of LLAMA, a grassroots 'colectivo' aimed at connecting and uplifting Latinx designers across the Americas, which won the 2021-2022 LAF Fellowship for Leadership and Innovation. His previous work experience includes MVVA and MNLA.
