Twenty-nine percent of Planet Earth is covered by terra firma… which is where the vast majority of LANDscape architecture historically has occurred. With the recent advent of massive offshore windfarms, however, a portion of the other 71% of Earth (the oceans) is presenting exciting new opportunities and challenges to the profession.

An in-depth understanding of the Visual Impact Assessment (VIA) process as it applies to offshore wind facilities in the United States.
The role of the landscape architect on multi-disciplinary teams working to properly site projects of unprecedented size and scope.
The technical requirements established by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) for evaluating offshore projects.
Lessons learned regarding the potential cumulative effects of multiple adjacent projects on sensitive shorelines.
