Explore local, state, and national level efforts to increase representation of historically excluded Asian Americans in the US Historic Preservation Program. Learn about stumbling blocks and victories, why underrepresented history is important, and the “long game” needed for US historical places to honor our whole demographic.

Learning Outcomes:

Enhance knowledge and perceptions of historical sites on public lands and culture-nature connections to demographically diverse audiences
Provide examples of organizational complexities of reclaiming long ignored history
Explain the benefits of underrepresented communities using the toolkit of resources available through federal and nonprofit organizations
Encourage practitioners to become involved with historic preservation as part of racial equity and inclusion initiatives
