Valencia Broadus, JD, is a first year PhD student in Educational Psychology at the University of Kansas. Her research interests include contextual factors impacting self-determination and performance in young adults matriculating in academic programs. She currently leads the Black Economic Union’s Curtis R. McClinton, Jr. Leadership Academy in Kansas City, Missouri. Valencia is the founder and director of the SMART Career Club, a community-based initiative that provides project based mentoring to underrepresented youth in Missouri.
