Lorraine McPherson is a caregiver to a person with aphasia. She had been attending the Friends and Family meetings at the University of Connecticut, where she met seven likeminded women who agreed to write a book together about the unexpected journey traveled when their loved one’s stroke altered their lives. They hope that their experiences serve as a guide to others in the same situation and that they improve the quality of services provided by health professionals.
