Karen is a caregiver to her mom who is a stroke survivor with aphasia. She had been attending the Friends and Family meetings at the University of Connecticut where she met seven likeminded women who agreed to write a book together about the unexpected journey traveled when their loved one’s stroke altered their lives. They hope that their experiences can offer others in the same situation some insight into how to navigate a new normal while being an advocate.
