Kathleen Oppenheimer, MS, CCC-SLP, is a PhD student in Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park. She has worked as an SLP in a variety of settings, including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, a pediatric outpatient clinic, and home health. Kathleen studies sentence processing in children with Developmental Language Disorder. She is active in community outreach and has developed innovative and engaging ways to bring language science to K-12 students over Zoom.

•I have received funding for my PhD from a National Science Foundation grant (NRT-DESE 1449815) in 2019-2021; engaging in language science outreach was a requirement of this funding. Along with three co-presenters (EE, LS, and CT), I received a Linguistics Communication grant in June 2022 from the Lingthusiasm podcast to fund the outreach work that we talk about in this presentation.
