Dr. Jane Mertz Garcia is an ASHA Fellow and professor of Communication Sciences & Disorders in the Department of Applied Human Sciences at Kansas State University. Her teaching and research relate to acquired communication and swallowing disorders. Dr. Garcia has published and presented nationally on diet modifications, including thickened liquids and aspects of service delivery. A current initiative addresses use of innovative technologies for student, patient, and staff education about swallowing and diet modifications.
