Karyssa Stonick is a graduating (June 2022) undergraduate speech and hearing science major student at Portland State University. Karyssa worked on prior research involving the gut microbiome and bladder microbiome. She is currently working with Dr. Deanna Britton in the Speech, Swallowing, and Respiration Lab to study breathing-swallowing coordination in motor neuron diseases and dysphagia in Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Karyssa is also involved in advocacy work on the importance of the rhetoric of chart notes.
