Food insecurity is a serious national public health problem, which occurs when access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources. When experienced during childhood, food insecurity has been associated with negative health outcomes and developmental concerns. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated food insecurity issues in many communities. In this session, we will demonstrate how our multidisciplinary team has implemented the Hunger Vital Signs screening tool into our clinical practice and explore community-based resources as well as initiatives within our own program to address food insecurity with the patients and families who we serve.
