Collaboration among higher education and medical institutions is essential for preparation of a competent workforce. The wide scope of contextual and health-care cultural elements, and interprofessional competencies is best learned within the medical context. This collaborative research between a university and a medical center focuses on examination of the impact and effectiveness of application of intensive contextual learning for students in SLP personnel preparation programs on successful entry to medical internships and employment. The infusion of contextual andragogy within viable medical settings using a cognitive learning theory approach provides the means to identify education pedagogy for personnel preparation programs. Data examining the outcomes and effectiveness of this longitudinal study will be presented.
