Qualitative and quantitative research methods have documented disparities in the diagnosis and use of Early Intervention services in African American children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Furthermore, there have been documented differences in postsecondary outcomes for African American children with ASD. This session will discuss some of the unique challenges faced by African American families and best practices/recommendations for clinicians to help prepare families for transitional life periods.
