2107V - Collaboration and Conflict Resolution: Best Practices for Real Life Scenarios

This practical, skill-building presentation will help the speech/language pathologists (SLPs) recognize and apply effective communication strategies among team members to facilitate Interprofessional Practice and collaboration. Emphasis will be on: 1) development of skills for having difficult conversations with team members, 2) utilization of effective strategies to strengthen partnerships with team members, other colleagues, and parents/caregivers, and 3) how to support provision of consistent models of intervention and communication across environments and activities. The session will cover empathy, rapport building, and practical skill building for problem solving. Although designed specifically for SLPs working in the school system, the communication strategies covered in this session can be used by anyone in any setting.
