5507V - Pre/Post-Comparison of Interprofessional Collaborative Competencies Attainment in Dysphagia Course Curriculum for Students in Healthcare

Dysphagia has a complex nature, and requires an interprofessional team to holistically evaluate and intervene at the earliest. Interprofessional education (IPE) is a tool to teach collaborative practice and quickly orient the students towards a clinical context using team-based learning to meet an optimal level of competency in client-centeredness and dysphagia intervention before working at their clinical placements. A total of 106 graduate students from three healthcare disciplines participated in the study by attending the in-person and virtual labs with IPE learner groups. Comparison of pre- and post-IPE intervention training was analyzed using Interprofessional Collaborative Competencies Attainment Survey’s(ICCAS) six domains of a learner's skills in communication, collaboration, roles and responsibilities, collaborative patient-family-centered approach, conflict management/resolution, and team functioning.
