Approximately one million people are currently living with Parkinson disease (PD) in the United States, with more than 60,000 people newly diagnosed with PD each year. Although PD can often be effectively managed by a combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological options during the earlier stages, many individuals with PD often experience progressive disability and require increased support from health and social services. Therefore, the current study includes findings from semi-structured interviews with people with PD and their family members about their current unmet needs and barriers to service delivery based in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. In addition, the study discusses some of the future directions and avenues that may benefit the PD community.
