5539V - Results, Validity, and Feasibility of the Speech Sound Development Screener

Phonetic repertoires in babbling are an important marker of prelinguistic development. Typical phonetic development, however, is difficult to identify given variability within and across infants. Prior to 18 months of infant age, caregiver report of prelinguistic vocal development is often an important part of clinical practice for early intervention. Accordingly, we created the Speech Sound Development Screener as a means to help us 1) further understand the utility of caregiver report of babbling in tracking vocal development, and 2) identify infants who are at risk of speech/language delay/disorder at a younger age. We will report on the utility, validity, and feasibility of this screener.
