5030V - Early Identification of Late Talkers

The recently revised CDC developmental milestones have raised concerns about a “wait and see” approach to identifying children at an early age who may need intervention. This is particularly relevant for toddlers who may be diagnosed as “Late Talkers,” particularly with regard to determining which children will “catch up” from those who will need direct intervention. This session will present phonological profiles of expected development for children 18-36 months using a developmentally appropriate assessment tool (Profiles for Early Expressive Phonological Skills: PEEPS).
