This course will review strategies for building a multidisciplinary team and forming universal protocols to improve outcomes for patients with tracheostomies. A review of resources and evidence-based best practice for standardized care for patients with a tracheostomy. The benefits of timely trach tube placement, timing of speaking valve evaluations, weaning criteria, and principles of rehabilitation of the will be discusses. Specific examples on how a Trach Team was formed within the Integris HEALTH system, including 7 hospitals across Oklahoma.
