2141V - The SATPAC Approach and Remediation of Speech Sound Errors in an RTI Context

School-based SLPs spend considerable time working with children with speech sound disorders or persistent single speech sound errors (SSE). In addition, when following the typical special education IEP process, the amount of direct service each child receives can be considerable. Using a Response to Intervention (RTI) model, many students will respond positively to some brief form of intervention thus avoiding special education services. Results from three separate studies that have been conducted using the SATPAC approach will be summarized to illustrate how this approach can be effective within an RTI context. This will then be followed by a detailed discussion of the application of this approach.
