Parents, teachers, and SLPs were asked to predict the vocabulary early symbolic communicators who use AAC use throughout their day (i.e., during a math lesson, during a speech-language therapy session, and dinner). Results of the accuracy of the predictions as well as the composition (e.g., parts of speech) of the predictions and words used will be shared. Clinical and research implications related to vocabulary selection for early symbolic communicators who use AAC will be discussed.

Summarize the current best practices for vocabulary selection for early symbolic communicators who use AAC including creating lists to predict words that are necessary to participate throughout the day
Describe the accuracy of parents, teachers, and SLPs in predicting the vocabulary that early symbolic communicators need to participate in three contexts during their day
Identify the level of prompting given to early symbolic communicators who use AAC while communicating in activities during their day
