Hearing loss not only impacts communication but can lead to mental health concerns that further reduce overall quality of life. The COVID-19 pandemic and the requirements for facial masks and social distancing that impede communication have only exacerbated the impact of hearing loss on mental health. This course will explore the literature related to the prevalence of mental health concerns in individuals with hearing loss and develop clinical protocols to best identify and support individuals who are at risk for mental health concerns related to hearing loss. Through interprofessional clinical collaboration between hearing healthcare providers and mental health professionals, comprehensive rehabilitation can be achieved.
