2099V - Caregiver Coaching in Early Intervention: A Partnership to Support Children and Families

This session will explore a model of caregiver coaching for providers of early intervention for children with developmental, communication, and language differences, aged birth-three, with a focus on building strong family-provider partnerships. Video vignettes of providers and families in real-world settings will be used to illustrate one state’s framework of caregiver coaching: fostering trusting relationships, the beginning joint plan, observation, action/practice, reflection, feedback, and the end joint plan. Facilitators will encourage attendees to self-reflect on their own practices and consider opportunities to establish partnerships with caregivers that build their capacity to support their children’s learning and development.
