The Virtual Library closes tonight, Monday, November 28, 2022, 11:59 p.m., Central time.
About the Virtual Library
The Virtual Library offers a broad collection of on-demand, pre-recorded sessions plus digital iPosters that you may view at any time during the 19-day open period. Sessions in the Virtual Library are all new content, selected by the 2022 Convention Program Committee through the Call for Papers earlier this year. All sessions are eligible for continuing education credit (ASHA CEUs/professional development hours).
This year, we are also offering a limited selection of livestream (slides and audio only) sessions taking place at the in-person ASHA Convention in New Orleans. We are also offering a full live video feed of the Opening General Session, Awards Ceremony, Research Symposium on Friday, November 18, and the Research Sympoium on Hearing on Saturday, November 19. These sessions take place in Central time and will not be recorded, so mark your calendar and plan to watch the live broadcasts.
The Virtual Library will open on November 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., CT. At that time, registered attendees may log in to view videos for pre-recorded, on-demand sessions and iPosters.
The Virtual Library will close on November 28, 2022, 11:59 p.m., CT.
(Sessions offered at the in-person event will not be recorded for the Virtual Library.)
ABOUT THE SESSIONS
TOPIC AREASThe ASHA Convention education program covers 31 topic areas related to the professions. The Virtual Library allows you to search or filter by topic area to find sessions that match your professional interests.
SESSION FORMATSYou will find three different session formats in the Virtual Library:
- 1-hour Oral Seminars
- 30-minute Technical Research and Technical Clinical Sessions
- 15-minute Poster Presentations (see below for details)
Some Oral Seminars feature presenters invited by the Convention Program Committee. This is noted in their session description.
POSTERS
This year, we are introducing an exciting, new, interactive format for posters called iPosters. iPosters are entirely digital and can include high resolution images, charts and diagrams, slide shows, videos, and audio clips. Each iPoster also includes a pre-recorded audio narration. You may claim 15 minutes of continuing education credit for viewing each digital iPoster in the Virtual Library.
(Note: There is no live, virtual interaction between poster presenters and attendees through the Virtual Library this year.)Some iPosters also pair with a corresponding 15-minute live, in-person Q&A session at the ASHA Convention in New Orleans, which provides the opportunity to interact with presenters and other participants face-to-face. In-person attendees can earn an additional 15 minutes of continuing education credit for each poster by participating in the live, in-person Q&A sessions taking place onsite.
In-person poster presenters will be available at their assigned monitor in the Poster Hall in 90-minute scheduled time blocks. You can stop by any time during the scheduled time block but you must participate for 15 minutes to claim continuing education credit. You may claim up to 6 Q&A sessions per 90-minute time block.
Session codes for digital iPoster presentations and their corresponding in-person Q&A sessions begin with the same four digits to help you find the pairing. The session codes for the virtual iPoster presentations end in V, and the live Q&A sessions end in L. For example:
iPoster: 7000V
In-Person Q&A Session: 7000L
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
All sessions in the ASHA Convention Virtual Library are eligible for ASHA Continuing Education Credit or Professional Development Hours. With hundreds of pre-recorded oral sessions, over a thousand posters, plus more than 80 live-broadcast sessions,
the Virtual Library offers an extensive opportunity to earn continuing education credit.
The Virtual Library is open for 19 days (November 10–28) and is accessible 24 hours a day, so the total amount of continuing education credit you can earn is 456 PDHs or 45.6 ASHA CEUs. You can view pre-recorded sessions and posters on your own schedule, so how much continuing education you earn will depend on your time investment. For example, if you spend 2 hours a day watching sessions, you can earn 3.8 ASHA CEUs or 38 PDHs over the nineteen-day period that the library is open.
On Thursday, November 17, Friday, November 18, and Saturday, November 19 you can earn up to an additional 15 PDHs or 1.5 ASHA CEUs watching the live-broadcast sessions from the in-person event.
HOW TO REPORT YOUR CE CREDIT You will
follow the same reporting process as in-person participants. To receive credit and earn ASHA CEUs or professional development hours, you must enter your activities in the ASHA Learning Center.
