Dr. Michael Z. Liao, Ph.D., MLS, is currently a Vice-Chair of the EDDS community; he is also a Senior Scientist at the Clinical Pharmacology department at Genentech, where he co-leads a gene therapy working group. He has broad R&D experience in oncology and immuno-oncology. He has substantial experience in establishing and implementing strategies to drive early and late-stage global clinical program development, shaping global health authority interactions, and successful IND and BLA filings. Before Genentech, Mike led multiple Phase I T cell bispecific and cell therapy programs as a clinical pharmacologist at Amgen. Before Amgen, Mike completed an ORISE fellowship at the FDA in the office of clinical pharmacology specializing in anti-infective agents Phase 2 dose optimization. Prior to the fellowship, he earned his Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutics focused on clinical/nonclinical PK-PD from the school of Pharmacy at the University of Washington. B.S. in Medical Laboratory Science at the School of Medicine at the University of Washington. Mike is an ASCP board-certified Medical Laboratory Scientist. He has been a member of ASCPT since 2018 and has served on EDDS since 2020.
