René Bruno provides scientific leadership in the development and application of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) in drug development, with a special focus in oncology and immuno-oncology supporting various early and late stage projects. René has close to 40 years of experience in academia, industry, and consulting, including University of Marseilles (1982-85, Assistant Professor), Syntex (1985-1987), Rhone-Poulenc Rorer (1987-2000), Genentech (2000-2003, Sr. Scientist, Head of Pharmacometrics), Pharsight/Certara Consulting Services (2003-2016, Managing Director) and Genentech-Roche (2016-current, Staff Scientist).
René specific research interest has been in oncology tumor growth inhibition modeling, including linking tumor dynamics to outcome data such as overall survival, and application of these models to trial design and development decisions. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed research articles, 23 invited book chapters, reviews, and commentaries, and delivered 65+ invited lectures in scientific conferences, workshops or universities. René is one of the founding members of the Population Approach Group in Europe (PAGE). He hosted the 2nd meeting in 1993 in Paris and co-organized the 17th meeting in Marseille (2008). Rene has been a member of the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP) Board of Directors (2012-2017), served as ISoP president of the (2016-2017), co-organized the Food and Drug Administration‐ISoP Model‐Informed Drug Development in Oncology Workshop in February 2018 and received the ISOP Innovation Award in 2020.
