Session Description

The Mental Health and Addiction (MHA) and Special Populations (SPO) Communities have joined forces to bring you two dynamic speakers. Angela Colbers, PhD, is working to unravel the pharmacokinetics of antiretroviral agents and antiepileptics in pregnant women. Additionally, she will discuss the current status and perspective of inclusion of women in clinical trials during registration phase of drugs. Vijay Ramchandani, PhD, will then lead a discussion about alcohol use and the impact of the pandemic.

The Community leadership from both Communities will also provide a brief update on activities and progress in the past year and plans for Community engagement and events in the year ahead.

Learning Objectives

1. Describe some of the unique therapeutic challenges in the treatment of disease or other conditions in pregnancy, with a specific focus on treatment of HIV and seizure disorders.

2. Discuss several statistics on alcohol use and case studies conducted throughout COVID-19.
