Award Lecture: Pharmacogenomic Innovation to Advance Drug Safety
Drug safety is an important consideration in personalized medicine. This lecture will highlight our use of pharmacogenomic association studies to identify genes and pathways implicated in drug toxicity. The results from our pharmacogenomic studies are then brought back into the laboratory for investigation of the molecular mechanisms underlying toxicity. The reverse translational approach that will be discussed illustrates the power of human genetics to understand drug action.
