Sandhya received her BPharm and MPharm degrees from Hamdard College of Pharmacy, Delhi, India and her doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism) from Northeastern University, Boston, MA. In her current role at Gilead Sciences, Inc., Dr. Girish provides strategic and scientific leadership for clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics and bioanalytical strategies for NMEs spanning both early and late stages of development. Her department is actively involved in a variety of pediatric and adult R&D programs across virology, oncology, and inflammation therapeutics areas and is responsible for integrated clinical pharmacology, and M&S strategies, including applying MIDD approaches where appropriate. Sandhya is passionate about combining insights from clinical trials with data from virtual clinical trials, RWD, AI/ML, genomics to accelerate drug development.
Dr. Girish has over two decades of experience in the discovery and development of multiple modalities at start-up (Genesoft), CRO (SRI International) and big pharma companies (Novartis and Roche/Genentech). In addition, she served as an IQ Board Member and was the Vice Chair and Chair of the Clinical Pharmacology Leadership Group (CPLG) of the International Consortium for Innovation & Quality (IQ) in Pharmaceutical Development (2017-2020). Sandhya was the recipient of a Rising Star Award in 2020 from the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.
