Dr. Vivaswath Ayyar is a Senior Scientist at Janssen Research & Development where he applies clinical-translational and systems pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) modeling approaches to inform drug development across various therapeutic areas. Dr. Ayyar also serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York (UB). Viva Ayyar earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from UB in 2014 followed by the Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2019, also from UB. Under the mentorship of Dr. William Jusko, his graduate research combined experimental, computational, and mechanistic systems modeling approaches to decipher the PK and PD properties of corticosteroids. Dr. Ayyar has authored 16 publications, including 12 first-author articles, in journals such as CPT, CPT:PSP, JPKPD, and JPET. He has been a member of ASCPT since 2019 and currently serves as Editor-in-Training on the 2021-2022 editorial board of CPT:PSP as well as on the ASCPT Early Career Community steering committee. Dr. Ayyar has received Graduate Research Awards from the Sigma Xi Honor Society, International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP), and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS).
