Postdoc/hospital pharmacist
Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology
I am a hospital pharmacist and clinical pharmacologist. I completed my traineeship at the Clinical Pharmacy department at Maastricht UMC and did a specialization in clinical pharmacology at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam.
Currently, I work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology in Utrecht (https://research.prinsesmaximacentrum.nl/en/research-groups/huitema-group). Our research projects are aimed at the individual treatment of children with cancer based on understanding of the pharmacology of the drug. We aim to describe the pharmacokinetics of new promising drugs and existing anti-cancer treatments. To further tailor the treatment to the unique child, I study the pharmacogenetics of multiple treatments and investigate whether it can be predicted how a child will respond to chemotherapy or supportive medication based on PK/PD profiles and genetic variants.
During my PhD research in the LUMC, I studied the pharmacogenetics of sunitinib in renal cancer as a part of the European collaborative project EuroTARGET (FP7). In 2015, I was a visiting PhD candidate at the biopharmaceutical company deCODE genetics in Reykjavik to conduct a large GWAS study.
During my PhD, I was a board member of the LUMC Association for PhD candidates (LAP) and during my traineeship I joined the board of JongNVZA for young pharmacists where I was responsible for scientific matters and research (CWZO). I am now Transition Manager in the ASCPT Student and Trainee (ST) community Steering Committee and I am a member of the medical ethics review committee of Utrecht (METC Utrecht) and the editorial board of the Dutch journal for oncology (NTvO).
